DHF launches new maintenance videos for industrial doors and automated gates

videos

Tamworth-based trade association, the Door & Hardware Federation (DHF), has announced that it has launched two new videos on the importance of regular maintenance to ensure the safety and compliance of industrial doors and automated gates.

Each video serves as a valuable resource for business owners, facility managers, and engineers, demonstrating best practices and the importance of using fully trained professionals, such as DHF Members, for maintenance and repairs.

The industrial door video, which is two minutes and 26 seconds long, highlights the importance of contracting a fully qualified engineer with a specific skillset to undertake a thorough inspection of the industrial door.   The automated gate video, which is two  minutes and nine seconds long, emphasises the need to undertake regular maintenance on automated gates to ensure that safety,  reliability and most importantly, legal obligations, have been met.

“Before servicing either industrial doors or automated gates, a professional maintenance provider will assess the industrial door or gate’s condition and inform the customer about necessary steps, including temporary shutdowns for safety inspections,” explains DHF’s Commercial Director, Patricia Sowsbery-Stevens.  “If critical defects are detected, the system will be deemed unsafe and the engineer cannot put it back into service until the necessary repairs have been completed.  And when those defects are rectified, they must be done so by a fully qualified professional.”

The videos further reinforce the significance of DHF’s Level 2 Awards in Safety, a one-day theory-based course recommended for installation and maintenance engineers, and which provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of essential safety standards relevant to their product area.  In completing the course, engineers gain the knowledge and confidence to safely install products that meet compliance requirements.

“The most important elements to consider from the role of maintenance is that the products remain safe to put on the market, reliable, and fully compliant with current legal obligations.  Our new videos demonstrate how regular inspections, timely repairs, and adherence to established protocols help prevent potential hazards, reduce downtime, and extend the lifespan of a product,”  concludes Patricia.
