Overview: 2024 was a year of unprecedented employment law change and 2025 sets to bring even more: from holiday pay and entitlement to new types of leave and requirements around preventing workplace harassment, there’s been a lot to keep track of. The publication of the new Labour government’s Employment Rights Bill in October has also set out further big changes to employment rights across Great Britain. Key changes to look out for include day-one unfair dismissal rights, the banning ‘exploitative’ zero-hours contracts, and changes to Statutory Sick Pay, which will see the three-day waiting period scrapped. It’s vital that businesses across every sector grasp all the proposed changes otherwise the scale and speed of the Bill’s changes could pose a challenge.

Overview: The UK’s sustainability requirements significantly impact businesses. Companies must ensure enhanced transparency by disclosing sustainability practices and impacts. Operational adjustments, such as adopting greener technologies, improving energy efficiency, and reducing waste, are often necessary. While there are initial costs, sustainable practices can lead to long-term financial benefits through cost savings, efficiency, and market access. Emphasising sustainability enhances reputation and brand value, while non-compliance risks legal and financial penalties. Despite challenges, these requirements create opportunities for growth and innovation. This workshop aims to raise awareness of key obligations, highlight improvement opportunities, and provide guidance to support compliance and sustainable business success.
